Old Scrap Book - Will the paper tear if....?

It's an old scrapbook, the one you tie up with the string/shoelace type thing. I cut manilla paper to fit it, but i am scared that it will rip at the holes. What if i put those white circle things around the holes, you know those sticker things so it doesn't rip, AND but a layer of tape along the side that will be tied to the spine? Sound good? Will this be strong? Any other ideas or tips?

  1. Buy a roll of clear packing tape - lay the page in the middle of the strip of tape and then fold over - take a hole punch and punch out where the hole needs to be.  This way it will be clear and you won't have those little white rings distracting whoever 's looking at your book.

I would strongly recommend that any paper materials that you use need to be acid - free or lignan - free.  The acid is what makes papers or pictures yellow and crumble.

Have a great time scrapping !

  2. That sounds like it should be pretty strong. Another thing you could do would be to use sheet protectors over your finished pages. They will help protect the items on the pages from fingerprints, etc.

Also--make sure everything you are using is acid-free, so it won't disintegrate over time. A local scrapbook store can help you with this. If you don't have one, look for one online.
