Old Western Movie title?

I am trying to find the title of an old Western from the 40s or 50s.

The hero is being chased by a mounted band (posse?) and his horse gives out and drops. He carries his saddle on foot and comes across a herd of horses behind a wire fence. They all run off except this skinny, scraggly flea bitten horse that comes over to him. He has no choice but to take it and when the chase resumes, the horse can fly like the wind and go down steep mountain sides. It saves the hero.

Turns out the horse is an old indian pony.

If you can tell me the title of this movie I would greatly appreciate it, as I have been searching literally for years for it.

I think it might be "Wildfire," an old Bob Steele western.  The horse is the real star, as I recall.  Here a link:
