Old World and New World anthropology?

We are studying mesopotamia, egypt, andes, indus valley, and china. Which are old world and which are new world???

The new world is everything from Alaska and Canada on down through America and Mexico and into South America and Tierra Del Fuego.

The old world is everything else on the other side of the world.

Mesopotamia, Egypt, Indus Valley and China are "Old World" (and the Meso-American and Andean civilizations "New World") civilizations although this nomenclature is only really applicable to Europe and the Americas following Columbus' voyage.
