  1. If you are in the US, I recommend contacting your local sheriff's department. Detectives in the Auto Theft, or Marine Units can guide you. It won't be an imposition, it's the detective's job to assist you. But don't be surprised if they tell you that a boat that age would be hard to track. If it has a hull number, the sheriff's office should be able to help you. It's all in the computer database. If you get a lazy detective, request to speak with a supervisor.

  2. i don't know what you are talking about??????????????

  3. Most boats and motors have a serial # on the manufacturers plate.  Find those #s and inquire with your local police dept.  This will work in Can or US.  Might not have records back that far.  Good Luck.

  4. Sorry I probably won't be much help here as I don't know much about boats except I'd love to live on a house boat. I'd say if your Australian go to the NRMA site and look up their phone number or in USA I think you have Road side assist or something similar but these companies are doing more than just cars now and a boat has to be registered like a car so that's the first thing I'd try. I know over here their is a phone number u can ring to see if something is owed on anything you are wanting to buy but don't ask me the number ( I have rung before when buying a car to make sure it wasn't stolen or had money owing on it ) So I'm sure where ever you are there would be the same kind of thing and hopefully another YAer out there knows who or what their name is. Good luck to you though. What about ringing coast guard & even if they can't help they might be able to tell you who to contact. If ur still having trouble then u might have to pay a solicitor or lawyer to do it for you, Best wishes.
