Old childrens medicine, anyone ever heard of it?

Paraguart, or paraguard, not sure how it is spelled-- Has anyone heard of it , and if so what was it used for, my friend used to be given it as a child and we wondered what it was for, he cant remember cause he was only 4 or 5 , and they used to force him to take it with sugar, they had to hold him down cause it tasted so bad.

  1. "Paregoric' was used to treat diarrhea in infants and young children.  It is a "camphorated tincture of 'opium' "!!!  

    A lot of parents, babysitters or caretakers abused it, by using it to keep their young ones asleep, or too 'messed up' to care if they were fed, had a clean diaper or food--in other words, where they wouldn't cry!!!  That is still so sad to me!!!  

    You could go in a pharmacy then, ask for it, sign for it and no questions were asked.  Most of us used it the way, and for what, it was made for!!!  But there were sooooooo many who didn't!!!


  2. I googled both and Paragard is an IUD! lol  Sorry, never heard of it.  The only thing close to it that I have heard is Panadol it is a childrens pain-killer that is not made anymore, or only sold in certain countries.
