  1. Yes you can still use the old colour T & E but you must identify that you have mixed colour wiring

or use the appropriate harmonised coloured sleeving to identify the phase and neutral conductors

brown for red / blue for black

  2. You can still use, just not buy. No need to sleeve it.

I know of some electricians who brought loads up before the switch as the old colours are better, and less likely to confuse the colour blind.

  3. yes you can,!!

  4. Is there any real need for the brown and blue sleeving? There's still plenty of old red and black cable installed in houses across the UK, so electricians are likely to remember that red = brown and black = blue for many years to come.

  5. Use it without blue and brown sleeving if you are adding it to an existing installation which uses red/black.

If you are attaching it to existing wiring which is already blue/brown then you shouldn't do it. But if you really must then make the joint at a junction box or inspection box or switch/socket box and attach a label on the outside clearly stating that there are old and new wiring colours inside (that is the Regulations) regardless of whether you use sleeves or not.

  6. Can still use it,but not on a re-wire or new-build property.
