Old dvd player?

Question

do dvd players now come with settings to play dvds with dolby digital 5.1? It seems like mine only plays 3.1 but all dvds now are 5.1...when i play a dvd i only get sound from either my center speaker or my front left----How do i get the sound to come out of all speakers? I am sure it may have something to do with my settings on my receiver but i am confused...can anyone help me before i got buy a new dvd player.....thanks

All DVD players can play 5.1 now.  Even the freebies that you get when opening an account at a bank.  What most people do not realize is that with 5.1 almost all of the sound comes from the center speaker.  left and right for both front and back fill in the needed sound for you to experience the surrounding effects.  Make sure your receiver is in Dolby PLII, Dobly Digital, DTS, or Neo:6 surround mode and make sure all of your speakers are plugged in and the wire is intact and you should be fine.
