Old fantasy strategy computer game?

Hi, do you know the name of an old fantasy computer game, prior to warcraft, which had several fantasy races to choose from [like elves, unicorns, orcs, dwarves etc.] and which was played by multiple players? It was turn based, the graphics were color but not very complex, and it was primarily a thinking game. You played on various kinds of terrain, fields, mountains, hills, which gave different units advantages - it was a bit like http://www.wesnoth.org/ is today, only its predecessor... thanks!!!

You may be thinking of Warlords:

The original was turn based.

Later versions they migrated to being realtime.
