One of my questions for school about the book is "What did the old man say he did wrong that guaranteed his defeat?" I can't find the answer anywhere.

  1. their solitude(soledad) is aman figthing with their destiny, with the tragedy of the human being

  2. As Daniel said, the old man left the swordfish hanging out of his ship.

  3. i think it has something to do when he is dragging the swordfish back (or whatever it was) and he realizes he's too weak to pull it into the boat. all the sharks are feasting on it and he realizes something.

i'll look it up right now. be right back, try to find the quote

in my book pg. 119 (6 pages from the end) he tells the sharks  "Eat that, galanos. And make a dream you've killed a man."

the sentence after that says..... he  knew he was beaten now and he went back to the stern

pg. 120 ---- .... "and what beat you, he thought"

" "Nothing" he said aloud. "I went out too far" "
