Love big screen plasma TV..(50 inches) Also love old black and white movies...there's the problem...when the scene is in a dark place or dark room you see tons of pixels (I guess that 's what they are) bouncing around...Is this a drawback to plasma or is there some setting to adjust?????

  1. i never encountered that on my plasma.. in fact I prefer my plasma over my LCD, as there are dark areas on the LCD if looked at from an angle...

perhaps it is the source of the video, and the pixelation is just easier to notice during dark scenes..

what is the source for these movies? DVD, VHS, PC (local or streamed over the internet), MEDIA CENTER EXTENDER/XBOX, OTA broadcast, cable, satellite?

make sure to use the best cables available to you for the device you are connecting, starting with HDMI, DVI, VGA, composite, component, coax

If it is optical media (DVD etc.) check that the disc is clean, and not scratched, also if possible clean the lens on your drive...

If it is from a PC connected directly to your TV and the file is local to your machine, perhaps the RAM, CPU or graphics card needs to be upgraded.

If it is from a PC on the network, or media center extender, or xbox, it should be connected to your network with a minimum of cat 5 cable, video does not play well with wifi. ensure your network is up to the task.

if it is from a broadcast source it may be artifacts from the broadcast, and there is little you can do, but attempt to improve your signal strength, if it is OTA or satellite, ensure your signal meter is as high as possible, you may need to realign your antenna or dish, if it is cable, have them do a test on your line to ensure your signal quality is sufficient.  limit the amount of times you split the coax cable, if possible use a single 3 way or 4 way splitter in place of multiple 2 way splitters, and use splitters designed for digital TV, with a rating of up to at least 2Ghz
