Question:

Old red bicycle with "The Service, England" on it - any ideas where this has come from?

I have recently received an old red bicycle (pretty much falling to bits!) with a shield on the front under the handlebars with "The Service, England" emblazened on it. The shield has the crown above it, with a cannon in the middle in front beams of light.

I'm guessing that this is either HM Prisons, the Fire Service, or something to do with the war. Can anyone shed some light on where this old bike has come from?

Thanks very much!
