Question:

Old tattoo; suggestions on getting it fixed?

I have a tattoo on my chest (over my heart) which I got going on 6 years ago. I was 14 when I had it done, it's my son's fathers name.

With it being my first tattoo, I had no clue what was being done. Obviously because of my age, it was not professionally done. I guess the needle was inserted too deep and now it's scarred (it bumbs up, not smooth like other tattoos I have).

I was wondering, does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to fix it up? A local tattoo artist suggested having it gone over in white so to lighten it, and get it covered - fixed or something. I really don't want it covered, it has alot of meaning to me (although we aren't together anymore).

I guess I'd just love some suggestions!

  1. Ok I got a really crappy tattoo when I was 15 so I can relate. But I am a little confused exactly with what kind of answer you are looking for here? You have a bad tattoo of a guy who you are not together with any more but don't want to get rid of it... ahhh maybe if your son has the same name slap a JR on the end of it. Or hmmm cover it with dermablend or go

to the doctors and see what can be done regarding the bumps. good luck.

  2. If you're UK, I'd advise seeing your GP. He or she would be able to explain why it looks the way it does. With that info, you'd be better placed to make the right decision.

  3. Go see a few tattoo artists. I have a guy here who can fix/tattoo anything. It may be that they can just touch it up and blend the colors to mask the scar tissue, without actually covering it up! Good luck.
