Old wooden speed boat...?

My neighbor has an old wooden speed boat. It was used in the 50s for racing, and won a lot. It's been kept indoors and is in great shape, but has no motor. Where would I find out the value of this boat so she will know how to price it?

  1. She might have a jewel.

There are many people who will rob you blind and leave you feeling happy about the deal.

If it was a winning boat (famous, or even semi-famous), there will be a few extremely rich people who might be interested in adding to their collection.

The lack of the original motor will drop the price, but again, she might have a rare jewel.

Can you post an image? The make? The history?

I work around many, many boat fanatics. With a bit more info I could probably find someone who would have an idea of the value.

  2. There are several sites depending on what type of boat it is.  Gar Wood, Chris Craft, Dodge etc.

  3. Ebay or Antiques Roadshow =)

  4. I restore antique and classic wooden boats. I have seen them valued at upwards of 10 grand or more. It really depends on the overall condition and the make. Century, Cris Craft, Correct Craft, all can demand big bucks. Research the boat on the web thoroughly because she just may have a jewel. They sell fairly fast. Good luck.

  5. I would love to see this boat. Is it blue and white, Chris Craft maybe. Can you get a photo of it.

Get ahold of Mitch LaPointe in Spring Park, MN. Here's the website:

    www.classicboats.com

Please stay away from F. Todd Warner at Mahogany Bay

Best of luck. Would love to add this boat to my marina.
