Older, slightly crappy apt. want to decorate cute diy style?

My bf and I are getting a one bedroom apt, which coming from an efficiency is amazing (there are closets and doors in the new place, watch out!) But we are on a low low budget and I need cute ideas for decorating. I'm very crafty so any cute projects anyone can come up with are welcome. I'm an ikea freak and love a clean modern but still cozy style.

Any ideas? Thanks bunches!

Why don't you go for a Mid Century look, as in the 1950s.

The styles were colorful and clean looking. Check out the library, for Decorating books on that era.

The great thing is, there are plenty of these articles of furniture in thrift stores, like Goodwill and the Salvation Army.

Some may need a little bit of tender loving care, but think how good you will feel, when you have cleaned them up and fixed any little flaws they may have.

You did say, DIY didn't you, so that would be perfect for you and your Boyfriend.

You get to go shopping on the cheap, and do some little fix ups, along the way. And you get to spend time with your B/F.

It can't get much better than that.

Oh one other way you may want to check out for fun, buy a record player, and pick up some old Vinyl Albums.

Even if you don't care for the music on some of them, the Covers will make great wall art, as most of them, where well drawn. They will add  a lot to the  fifties look.
