  1. TCW3 oil is a must go with the 50:1 go slightly rich easy to clean the plugs pain to rebuild the motor.

  2. No, mix 50-1. if it is a real old outboard, say 50's model, it might mix at 32-1. The only 100-1 that I know of is a VRO when it is idling,,

  3. i would run it at 50 to 1   thats 16oz for 6 gallons  the worst that can happen is that it smokes more

  4. No, only Yamaha has the 100:1 mix ratio.

Mix it 50:1 for omc (evinrude and johnson)

especialy if the engine is some older you should stick to this 50:1 mix formula.

Use a good quality 2 stroke marine mix oil and your engine will last longer.

    Frank

  5. Frank is wrong, there are some OMC outboards that run 100:1.

I have a Johnson 15 hp which is one such engine.

Grab your serial number and take it to a local marine dealer (Evi) They will be able to get the year, and give you the correct oil mixture.

  6. how old is old?  My 1979 model is just broke in good!  They've been 50:1 since the 50's maybe early 60's, prior to which they specified 24:1.    I just heard that some spec'd out at 100:1, but I wouldn't run my motor at that ratio unless I knew for dang sure that it was one a those.

  7. for 87 and near years that is correct. says so right on the motor

  8. No.  50 to 1 sounds right, maybe even a little thin on the oil due to the age of engine.

  9. How old? in the 50's and 60's the mix was  1/2 pint to the gallon, they were well oiled, but smoked like crazy.  The oil was 20 or 30 weight, the 70's the oil, engines and bearings got better, check with an outboard shop, someone there should know.
