Will my family ever find out where they came from?

My dad and his sister were adopted but their mum died, a few people know what happened and why they were adopted but won't speak out. They have no names on their birth certificates as to who their fathers are.

What are the chances of finding out what actually happened and who their fathers are?

  1. hmmm. a friend of mine was told this same thing. turned out his parents were alive. he was sold into black market adoption.

  2. It is possible that they will never find out, which is sad. It would be nice if the people who knew what happened were willing to speak out about these events of the past. Couldn't your family explain to them how important it is to you to learn about your heritage, and also your medical history? I hope you have some success with this.

  3. I think it has a lot to do with the "older" generation. Back in the day, people would adopt and then they'd keep it a secret. It really wasn't for the best, but they like to believe that it's better for a Adoptee to not know then to know. Which is wrong. If any one's entitled to know about their history, it's the kids that it involves. I hope that your family gets the info that they need. You could try pestering the relatives that know, or trying to reason with them. "We want to know, and you're willing to go to your grave with this information and it's not even yours to keep!" or something to that effect.

    Hope that helps,
