Older cat is not taking well to the new kitten, any tips?

The older cat is still hissing and whatever even after a week and a half or so of introducing them. She pretends to ignore it, but when it gets too close she begins hissing. We love them both very much, and don't want to lose our cat, or give back the kitten.. soo ;;

thanks

  1. what you need to do is be affectionate to the older cat when the kitten is around. the older cat will then see that the new kitten means you giving him love. most likely, the older cat will then want the kitten to be around more often.

  2. The older cat may see the kitten as an intrusion on her territory.  I have three cats and they tolerate each other now but it took about a month to get them to stop hissing at each other.  It just takes time.  Let them set the rules with each other.  If they fight let them go unless it gets out of hand.  They will decide who gets what in the house.

  3. I think it'll be ok. Just give it some time.

    I really don't have any tips for you, but I had 2 adult cats and I brought home a kitten. The oldest wouldn't let the kitten eat there food. It would follow her around the house (they were all spayed too) attacking her and stuff. Anyway as time went by, The kitten got older and it learned to fight back and it actually grew bigger than the bully cat ! Obviously the older cat learned not to mess with her (probably because she couldn't bully her around anymore) They were friends.. a couple years ago, they passed away, leaving only one.
