  1. I knew a friend who was in that kind of situation. He told me it wasn't bad cos no one really cared and knew anyway, and he ended up being really popular. He's also smart, but I guess if you have to repeat a grade, it doesn't mean you're dumb or anything! =)

  2. This thing happens all the time you should feel special as you would proberbly be looked up to by the other students in your class.

  3. I'm the oldest kind in my class too. Yeah, I feel a bit too big infront of them. I kinda feel that I can't mingle with them too much, but it's ok. You're just losing it, that's all. It's just a one-year difference, so yeah. You'll be alright.

    And it isn't bad. It's natural =D

  4. Oh thats okay to be eldest, I have a friend who is in the year above me but she was kept down in year 2 or something, anyway its pretty normal for her, I suppose depending how young you are the others may seem less mature than you.

There are plenty of people in your situation and it is fine, if you are exceptionally bright you could try talking to your parents and the school to see if you can go up to the next grade. But if you are in senior school this may not be a good idea because you miss out on a vital year of subjects and material.

  5. I was always the very youngest in my class- I started kindergarten at 4 and I graduated and headed off to college at 17. My best friend has the same birthday as me but is one year older, so she was the very oldest, like you. I know plenty of other kids in your situation as well who all did just fine. Other than, when we were younger, being smaller than my friends, you would have never even noticed a difference in our ages. It really isn't that big of a deal. And it's very common- chances are, you WON'T be the oldest one in class.

  6. You are only as old as your think you are. However people do sometimes look at your size and expect you to behave in certain way. So the trick is for you to close down expectations of others and focus on how you think about yourself. Surely being older you will have less problem with bullies. If you happen to be in co-ed, you get more attention from the opposite s*x too. This can be really great!

I notice that many mums now want to delay the start age of their kids so the kids will start schools being a bit older and more mature. It helps them to do well and become leader of the pack. But if the kids are very smart then it will be a problem. If you think you are very smart and get bored in your current class, ask for a skip to next grade. It will be a challenge with the higher level of work though.

  7. Well at my primary school a LOT of kids wer like you. In my brothers year level i think about half of his class is technically older. I think that its becoming more and more common these days actually

My brother is one of the older ones too. It doesnt really matter at all, apart from when they are doing sports like cross country and stuff and he cant go with his friends, cos he has 2 go with the year level above. But really, thats it, hes fine bout it

  8. ooh dont even worry bout that..

im the oldest in my class..im a senior n i should have been graduated already but i was just like u started late ..

i dnt really think of it as a bad thing..it aint like ur WAY older then everyone..but its fun for me to make fun of how im older n i knw better.. idk..

once i thought there was something wrong with me because i was older then everyone else..but its nothing..

ive seen this many times.. a lot of my friends had the same thing so dnt even worry about it..
