  1. First, I assume the Sony has an electronic tuner rather than a manual tuner.  Also you probably are receiving channels 2-13.  Above 13 (14-69) are UHF channels, and the TV is in the cable mode rather than antenna mode.  A universal remote probably will not operate the menu, for you to change from cable to air.  If you are using an antenna you should purchase a Digital TV converter, which will receive DTV and convert them to regular TV channel 3.  If you are using cable the reverse of the above may apply, meaning your TV is in the antenna mode instead of the cable mode.  Then you would need to change it in the menu.  Suggest finding someone with a Sony TV and borrowing their remote  or borrowing differant uni remotes to see which ones will access the menu.  As a TV Tech, I have found very few uni remotes to be able to access the menu.  ------LB

  2. You should purchase a Sony universal remote. I'd be really surprised if their own universal remotes couldn't access all Sony TV menus and functions.

From there, if we're talking Cable TV, I'd look to set the input to Cable instead of Antenna, then do a channel scan to get the rest of the channels off cable.
