Older tappan microwave (10 yrs?) won't turn off!

It did allow me to punch in time and power, then wouldn't start.
Opened, closed it and then it just turned on and wouldn't turn off.
(well, fan and light were on, I assumed microwaves were happening)

The only fix we could do was unplug it.
So is this worth repairing the main circuit board, or better to just get a new one? I was told the part would probably be $150....
I would prefer to repair the old than get a new, but would love to hear a "pro"  on this.

Thx.
