Everyone I have asked about this model says it never existed. I need a real car enthusiast to tell me it did exist. I am so sure about this!

  1. Couldn't you just google Oldsmobile Jetstar?  What about wikipedia?  Same thing.  Try it.  There is definitely such a thing as a Jetstar.   I will let you figure out whether or not it was an 88, and why that might be.

  2. Yes it existed it was built in 1964 and was the base model of the olds 88 line up it came with the 330 V8

  3. Sure it did, here's Wiki's page on it:

  4. Yes. The 88 was base model with different names: Jet star 88, Super 88, and just plain 88. Fastest Olds cars were 1954 Super 88, would run 120 MPH plus. 1958 J-8 Olds was a nasty Olds. I clocked a strip of rubber from a J-8 Olds with open rear end, more than 1320 feet. It laid rubber through all 3 gears which was automatic 3 speed. I personally owned a 1961 Olds 98 Starfire 2 door with a 394 CID motor. 325 HP. This car was a ticket getter. 7 tickets: from modified exhaust to marking the pavement, to speeding. The speeding ticket was 132 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

This all happened in Upstate New York in 1969. The Troopers reduced the ticket to 75 in a 55 zone. Ticket cost me $200.00, which was a fortune to me at that time.

This was the only time I got a warning from New York State Department of Motor vehicles that my license was going to be revoked after 1 more moving infraction.
