FC Krasnodar were defeated 1-0 by Lokomotiv Moscow in their latest Russian Premier League encounter. The Byki midfielder, Oleg Samsonov, has lamented team performance against the Railway Men and insisted that Krasnodar have the potential to beat Zenit St. Petersburg in their upcoming league tie away from home.
Samsonov heaped praise on Lokomotiv performance by revealing that the Lokhi were fantastic against them. Samsonov bemoaned the Byki strike force by highlighting that the Krasnodar strikers failed to score in front of their home crowd after conceding a goal in the first half of the match.
The Russian midfielder revealed that Lokomotiv are doing well under the leadership of their new head coach, Jose Couceiro, and highlighted that the Lokhi can become title contenders to match the likes of Bomzhi and CSKA Moscow.
“I think we lacked self-belief. We must pay tribute to Lokomotiv. They are better as compared to last season. I think, Lokomotiv is gradually approaching the level of top clubs, Zenit and CSKA. I cannot say that we played badly, we were maybe a little sloppy in the first half but a beautiful goal from the opponents has cost us.” The former FC Khimki player was quoted as saying.
Krasnodar managed to claim a point against the Bomzhi in their previous league meeting at the Trud stadium. Samsonov admitted that Krasnodar are least favourite to win their upcoming league encounter against the Meshki but insisted that they can turn it around this time by claiming three points at Petrovsky.
The promising midfielder believes that their main rivals are the Lokhi and Kuban Krasnodar and they are all in a fight to finish their season being at the middle of the table. Samsonov insisted that the Red-Greens will find it difficult to claim a win against Zenit later in the championship.
“It's good to believe. We are seriously considering the possibility of our victory and I also believe that we can beat the Zenit.” The 23-year-old concluded.
Samsonov admitted that Zenit had a rough spell after drawing against Amkar Perm and Terek Grozny. The promising midfielder revealed that the Meshki are now on a high after defeating Kryliya Sovetov Samara by scoring five goals away from home.
