Dynamo Kyiv were humbled by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday as the Ligue 1 outfit cruised past the hosts with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Olimpiysky National Sports Complex
It was PSG’s second win over Oleh Blokhin’s side in the Champions League and Les Parisiens showed just why they are a force to reckon at this level.
Dynamo Kyiv midfielder, Oleh Gusev, has expressed his disappointment over his side’s 2-0 defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain, and feels that the result was bit harsh on the hosts.
While talking to reporters, the 29-year-old stated that Dynamo Kyiv played well last night and they deserved at least a point from the match. The hosts had more procession and they created a number of chances but failed to take advantage of that.
Gusev said that Dynamo Kyiv conceded silly goals and they could have done better against PSG. The Ukrainian added that the visitors converted their chances while Oleh Blokhin’s side was wasteful in front of goal and was punished for that in the end.
“It's very frustrating to lose this way as we had more possession, more shots and corners. We played very well and put all our efforts into the match but conceded the first goal after one silly mistake.”
The midfielder said that Paris Saint-Germain scored two goals from three shots on target while Dynamo Kyiv couldn’t manage to find the back of the net despite having 16 shots on goal.
“They had three chances and scored two goals, while we had 16 shots but couldn't score.”
Oleh Gusev feels that Les Parisiens’ second goal killed the game and Dynamo Kyiv failed to take control after that. The player added that he and other players tried a lot to equalise in the second half but feels that it just wasn’t their day.
“We wanted to accelerate the pace in the second half but again conceded a silly goal. I can't say that it finished us as we tried to attack more and more but never got back into the game.”
Dynamo Kyiv will now play the Europa League and Oleh Gusev has vowed to perform well in that competition.
