Olfa expected to thrive in Union Handicap
Olfa is expected to seal a sterling success in the Newbridge Credit Union Handicap that will take place at Curragh racecourse on Monday, May 7. The event will commence at 3:55 (GMT).
On the soft track of 7 furlongs, the D. K. Weld-trained bay filly will face 19 rivals that include Ahimsa, Ondeafears, Jouster, Bon Accord, Elwazeer, Balladiene, Bonnie Acclamation, Boom To Bust, Noble Four, Vassaria,
Winning Impact, Hard Rock City, Three Way Stretch, Jeangeorges, Liberty Green, New Magic, The Hamptons, Truly Genius and Yellow Dandy.
A prize cheque of €6,900 is ready for the supposed winner. Each one of the above runners looks to strong enough on the card but Olfa stands above all in terms of talent and racing skills.
The brilliant daughter of Dubawi out of Shahaamah has won 2 out of her total 9 starts so far. Since August 2011, she has delivered four eye-catching performances on different tracks.
After winning a big race on August 18, the maverick sprinter moved ahead to finish 4th in a tough contest on September 10. She elegantly gained a runner-up spot on March 28, 2012 and accomplished a magnificent
victory against 16 competitors on April 15.
These four feats have perked up the filly’s confidence level to a great extent. If Olfa manages to capitalise well on her capabilities, she will have more than 90 percent chances to finish first.
However, Ahisma, being a hot-favourite runner for the Handicap, can give Olfa a tough time on the track. The A. P. O’Brien-trained bay filly broke her maiden on April 13, 2012. Prior to this, she had performed well
in 6 races since the beginning of her career.
Elwazeer is also likely to do well today. David Peter Nagle’s bay gelding excellently bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs on December 23, 2011 and January 6, 2012. The talented horse moved ahead to grab 3 thirds
and a runner-up rank in the four subsequent races.
In the light of the above analysis, it is predicted that there will be a fierce battle in the Union Handicap. Olfa needs to employ an audacious strategy in order to thrive. Good luck to her.
