Olga Golovanova easily beats Gayle Mahulette at European Club Championships – Badminton news
Russia’s Olga Golovanova, who is representative of Primorye Vladivostok club, showed a great performance and overpowered Netherlands’ Gayle Mahulette, representing BC Amersfoort, at the 2013 European Club Championships in France, on Friday, May 31.
The lofty Golovanova did not face any trouble in this club tournament. She entertained her supporters to the maximum. She was quite comfortable against Mahulette and took just 36 minutes to finish the business on court.
Golovanova was extremely aggressive in the starting set and she took it easily. However, she had to dig deep in the following set and finished off this clash in straight games with a convincing margin of 21-12 and 21-18.
On the contrary, Mahulette played quivering badminton in starting game and lost it without putting up strong resistance. However, she gave a wonderful fight in the following set before going down against her Russian challenger with a reasonable total.
In the first game of this Women’s Singles clash, the in-form Golovanova found a good start by playing attacking game. She took control at net making it hard for her rival to take charge of rallies.
The hard-to-learn variations and incredible anticipation helped Golovanova to stay in command. She was impressive in her net play and also dictated the pace of rallies from the rear court area.
Russian lady kept the pace high and employed her attacking skills effectively. She set up a comfortable lead against her confused challenger until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Mahulette tried to take the bird early from net but she failed to tackle the spinning shots effectively. She could not control the pace and also failed to stop making errors.
Meanwhile, Golovanova did not reduce the speed of the game at any stage and remarkable bagged the first game with a stunning 21-12 score on the board.
Mahulette put up strong show in the following set when she played attacking badminton and matched the pace of rallies at the initial stage.
Both ladies remained neck to neck in the opening half and no one could grab a comfortable lead until the one-minute break.
However, the tricky and positive play of Golovanova helped her to dominate the pace of rallies in the ending half. She played controlled shots in the ending points and won the set with a close margin of 21-18 and finished off the match in straight sets.
