    If 5'ATGTAT3' then the complementary strand is 3'TACATA5'.


  2. If both are written in the 5' - 3' direction, then yes, they are, because one chain would be ATGTAT meanwhile the other would be aligned with it in the other direction, 3' - 5', standing as TACATA
