I have been out of skiing for 10 years. When I was skiing everything but bumps and double Black was fair game. Ski Northern Mich and Vermont (mainly Okemo)

Now at 48, 180lbs, (male) I am trying to decide if I should replace my skis before hitting the slopes again. Going on a trip end of nexst week.

I purchased the skis in 93-94 and have kept them dry and at moderate temps. They were in a bag (breathable) and the bindings appera to be fine (Solomon model??, orangish color bought at same time). Olin DX's 195s.

The new short skis look fun, but should I buy.

  1. The new technology has made skiing easier and much more fun. You should demo skis and see if and what you like. Everyone I have convinced to do this has been thankful that I pointed them in this direction. I would not buy until you decide if you are going to ski more than once every ten years. It is not a wise investment plus the technology changes to quick. Leave you old straight skis at home and demo some new ones. You'll be glad you did.

  2. buy some shaped skis

you'll go way down in length

It's unbelievable the ease of use
