German national team manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oliver-c28477 Bierhoff has claimed that Germany are hot favourites to win the Euro 2012. He stated that Die Mannschaft possess one of the strongest squads and therefore should not be a problem for them to
catch up on other sides such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753, Spain and Italy.
Bierhoff mused that this German squad is definitely much better than the 2010 World Cup squad. He echoed that the current bunch of players can win games for their country and expressed confidence in Joachim Low’s side.
The former attacker also credited the improving standards of the Bundesliga which has certainly helped in the players’ development. He named a few players such as Holger Badstuber, Mario Gotze and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 who have improved immensely
and provide Low with loads of options both in attack and the defence.
While speaking to sports publication, Kicker, the 43-year-old further added: "Today we have a squad that is better and has more depth. We are much further along than in 2010, because we have players like [Mesut] Ozil, [Sami] Khedira, and [Holger]
Badstuber who have really established themselves with their current clubs and learned a lot.”
On the other hand, he admitted that the challenge will not be as simple for the Germans despite them being in tremendous touch since the last year. He warned the DFB-Eleven against any complacency especially with the teams such
as Holland and Spain who also fancy their chances of conquering Europe.
"We all expect Spain and Netherlands to challenge and I think that this will be a tournament for the biggest football nations. But I also think that Poland will play a role," Bierhoff concluded.
Germany find themselves in Group B which is also deemed as the potential ‘Group of Death’ including names such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 and the Netherlands. Low’s men will kick-start their campaign against Portugal on June 9 before
taking on Denmark and the Clockwork Orange.
