Oliver Holmes pens a three-year deal at Castleford Tigers - Rugby News

Castleford Tigers forward, Oliver Holmes, has inked a new three-year deal at the club on Thursday, November 24. According to the newly inked contract, the player will be retained until the end of 2014.
Holmes is very happy with the extension at the club and while expressing his thoughts about the latest happenings within the club, he said, "I'm glad to have signed an extension on my contract and see myself here for a long time. The changes have been massive
since we came back in to pre-season training. It shows that the club is moving forward and I want to be a part of that."
Ever since he joined the senior squad back in 2010 supporting No 26 jersey, Holmes has been playing well. His impressive show of talent in the club’s training sessions back in 2009 led to his uptake for the senior squad in 2010. In his debut year, he made
5 senior appearances for the club, which increased up to 19 appearances in 2011.
Just the mere comparison of the figures alone proves that the player has the potential to achieve a lot more. This all was happening under the vigilant eye of the club, which explains why they were swift in harnessing the player with a long-term contract.
Holmes latest move of getting his ongoing contract extended is compared to similar extensions made by other Tigers academy graduates which includes; Richard Owen, Adam Milner, Daryl Clark and Jordan Thompson. All these players have inked long term deals
at the club.
He will continue to play for the same club, just like Rangi Chase, who also penned a four-year deal, when he still had two more years remaining on the contract.
Where there is nothing hidden about Holmes’ commendable on-field skills, Castleford boss, Ian Millward also lauded the player for his commitment and praised the way Holmes plays for his side. This explains why the authorities at the club were looking forward
to retain him as a player.
Millward added, "I've been really impressed with him in the first few weeks and with his age he's only going to grow both skills-wise and development-wise. I think it's very astute of the club to get him tied down.”
Cas’ boss shared his delight of retaining another local kid at the club, who was being approached by several other franchises. He went on and said that he is very happy to have him on board.
The 19-year-old is on a road to constant improvement. It is believed by club officials that the player will only grow better in skills with time, which is why they did not want to delay the decision of retaining him.
