The former Bayern Munich goalkeeper has insisted that Chelsea cannot be taken lightly when the two teams meet in the UEFA Champions League final.
The Bavarian giants have reached the Champions League final for the second time in three years and this time they will take on Chelsea at the Allianz Arena on May 12. The Reds defeated Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in the semi-final
and have a great chance of winning their first title since 2001 when they downed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863.
Kahn admitted that Chelsea remember the last time they were in the final when they lost to Manchester United in 2008. He admitted that Bayern Munich also lost in the final in 1999 so they know how it feels.
The former goalkeeper insisted that Bayern cannot afford to underestimate their opponents as Chelsea have some world class players and their success in Europe is not a fluke. He added that Bayern have been in great form of late
and they have to capitalise on that.
“Chelsea are also wounded. They have not had a good season and they also lost a Champions League final in painful circumstances. It's similar to us in 1999. There is a danger of one thinking of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 as an average team. But Bayern
will not be so stupid to take Chelsea lightly,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former German international further added that the Reds need to forget about the defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund this past weekend in the German Cup final. He insisted that the players need to be confident ahead of
the big clash and must give their all in order to emerge victorious.
“They need to press the delete button and completely focus on what they can achieve now - and that's winning the Champions League, which ranks above all else. Some players never win this title, so they have to forget about the
cup final,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich have a last chance of securing silverware this season. They lost the final of the German Cup and were beaten by Dortmund again for the Bundesliga so a win in the Champions League would be brilliant.
