Oliver Wilson ends round one a strong note
After the British Open, it is time for the normal European Tour schedule to continue. Once again, the biggest names in the world of golf are going to fight it out for one of the most prestigious Opens in the European tour, the Lyoness Open.
This auspicious event is being held at the amazing Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria. This auspicious event teed off on the 25th of July and ends on the 28th of July.
The best collide in this tournament. In the end, there can only be one champion. The players try to display their best game to impress the spectators. Some succeed in doing so while others fail.
The first day at the Diamond CC was no walk in the park. The weather conditions have not been favourable for the players. The rain before the match made the course damp and made it hard for the golfers to play.
Despite the weather conditions and the pressure of the course, Oliver Wilson managed to pull off a strong finish. There were many expectations from the English professional golfer and he was successful in displaying a good round of golf after finishing his
first day.
Wilson had a slow start. On the front nine, he scored nine consecutive pars. There were no eagles, birdies, bogeys or double bogeys on his first nine holes. Thus, his score after the front nine was level par.
Wilson turned his game around on the back nine. He came on the course with a completely different mindset. He became aggressive, took some risks and it finally paid off.
From the very start of the back nine, he was playing differently. He started with a birdie on the tenth hole. After two consecutive pars he scored another birdie. He carded two more birdies on the fifteenth and sixteenth hole.
He managed to card four birdies in total in the back nine. There were no double bogeys, bogeys or eagles for the 31-year-old on the back nine. These made his score four-under par after the end of first day.
Before the game had to be abandoned due to rain, Wilson was tied at the eighth position and was four strokes behind the leader.
