Olympian Boy tipped for success in South-West Racing Club Handicap Chase
Olympian Boy will look to benefit from the soft ground at Exeter in order to claim the South-West Racing Club Handicap Chase (The Jockey Club Grass Roots Jumps Series Qualifier) in England on Thursday, December 20, 2012.
He does not have a very good strike rate in this form of racing, but that will not bother his team much, as his rivals are also in a similar position. None of them has been in dominant form recently, which will make things quite interesting in the class-4
clash.
A total of six stallions have lined up for action today and they will be fighting over a distance of 2 miles, 3 furlongs and 110 yards. The one who ends up at the top of the table will be awarded a cash prize of £3,249 in the end.
Like most of the other racecourses in the United Kingdom, Exeter has also been affected by heavy rain. However, the conditions have not been that bad overnight and the organisers have described the going as soft. This will really test all of the participants,
as they will have to put in some extra effort in order to complete the competition.
These conditions will definitely suit someone like Plein Pouvoir, who has been rated as the outright favourite to succeed. He has got a lot of experience and has been delivering some terrific results for his team recently.
He will enter the race with a starting price of 11 to 10 and will definitely attract a lot of bets in his favour.
The Venetia Williams’ trainee has participated in a total of 26 chase events, winning just four. Although, his strike rate is not on the higher side, yet he has been competitive on a number of times, as he has also finished as a runner up on six times.
Compared to him, Olympian Boy has got lesser experience in this format, but he is still not a newbie. He has represented his team in 15 races over fences and managed to succeed in three of them.
In addition to that, the Sophie Leech’s trainee finished as a runner up twice and secured the third spot on the same number of times.
Therefore, he cannot be taken lightly at all and will be the one to watch out for under jockey, Andrew Thornton.
