Olympian Ellen Gandy and Keri Anne Payne shine at the Mare Nostrum, Barcelona
Two more British swimmers, Ellen Gandy and Keri Anne Payne gave their best performances in the Women’s 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley events in the 2011 Mare Nostrum Championships in Barcelona, this weekend.
Initially, Ellen Gandy claimed the silver title in the Women’s 100m butterfly final after she touched the finishing blockade and ended her swim with a sterling time of 58.82 seconds. She was jubilant with her individual performance in the 100m butterfly
final. Ellen Gandy is a well-known swimmer of Great Britain, who has a great reputation in competitive swimming due to her amazing timing and versatile skills.
Gandy won two silver and one bronze medal in the Women’s 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 4x100m medley finals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She won one silver medal in the Women’s 4x200m free-style event at the 2008 European Championships in
Eindhoven. She snagged one bronze medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly meet at the 2010 European Championships in Budapest.
On the other hand, the world champion, Keri Anne Payne captured the silver title in the Women’s 200m IM final with a winning time of 2 minutes and 13.99 seconds. Payne is the silver medallist in the Women’s 10km open water swimming event at the 2008 Olympic
Games in Beijing.
Besides, she has won the Women’s 400m freestyle final at the 2004 European Championships in Vienna. Furthermore, she captured the bronze medal in the Women’s 400m medley final at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Moreover, Payne claimed the gold medal
in the Women’s 10km open water swimming at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
Meanwhile, another British swimming sensation, Michael Jamieson clinched the silver medal in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke event with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 12.83 seconds. Stacey Tadd of Great Britain captured the fourth spot in the Women’s 100m
breast-stroke with a time of 1 minute and 09.79 seconds. Meanwhile, she was again placed fourth in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke final with a time of 2 minutes and 27.93 seconds.
