Olympic Champion Lin Dan intends to stick around until 2016 Olympics – Badminton news
China’s most seasoned player Lin Dan, who has recently won his second consecutive gold medal at Olympic Games, plays down the rumours of his retirement by saying that he has no plan to take retirement soon and there are chances that he will go for the 2016 Olympics.
The World Number One Lin, who is ruling Olympic and World Champion, has been putting up spectacular show of top quality badminton for the last one decade and has won every major tournament which earned him Grand Slam title for his unmatched achievements.
The 28-year-old Lin, who is widely known as Super Dan, showed a wonderful performance in the 2012 London Olympics and won gold medal after winning against Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei in an epic final battle.
While talking about the rumours about his retirement, Lin said that he has no intention to quit the arena soon.
He stated, “I never said I would retire. All I said is I want to take a rest for a while. I hope to set a new target during my rest, and adjust my physical condition.”
Chong Wei, who is the main rival of Lin at international level, also intends to remain stick around until 2014 and if he remains fit he will also participate in the 2016 Olympic Games which will take place in Brazil.
While talking about his participation in the next edition of Olympics, Lin said that there is a possibility that he will play there.
He said, “If my foes are able to make it to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, I will also go for it.”
Lin and Chong Wei are two most complete shuttlers in Men’s Singles category at the present age and they have set themselves above all other shuttlers of the world as their targets always remain high.
Both, Chong Wei and Lin are quite experienced players and fans from around the world want to see these two legends playing against each other in the 2016 edition of Olympic Games considering that they are the best on court and make people happy by putting up tremendous who of badminton of the highest class.
