She lost to Cheng Fei in the battle for bronze, by around ~.03 points. She lost because she started with lower difficulty values (6.3's to upper 5's as opposed to Chen Fei's 6.5's).

Seriously, you people need to learn the new scoring system. 1/3 of the points are now the result of difficulty level, while the other 2/3 is how well someone performs a technique (execution).

When you fall flat on your face, you lose "at most" ONE point in the execution. So when you s***w up the landing, you lost anywhere between 3/8 to 1 point.



How well you do in the actual vault and how difficult it was (height, spins, etc) determines most of the points.

You don't see the Team USA Chinese coach complain or react like an idiot.

Anyways, Alicia was lucky to be on 4th with Pavlova faulting.

China was lucky to be on 3rd but still scored higher than USA because... (read below)

Andrei Gueisbuhler, secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation, said Cheng won because her vaults were harder. The start values for both of Cheng’s vaults were 6.5. Sacramone’s first vault had a 6.3 start value, but her second was just a 5.8.

“The difficulty of the two vaults added up together was a huge difference between third and fourth place,” he said. “(Cheng’s) execution scores were as low as 8.5, which tells me that the necessary deductions were made. It might look strange at first sight, but if you look at the rules and the regulations, everything is as it should be.”

She's 3x world champ on vault for a reason =)

Her performance was great. The Chinese girl fell on her knees and caught herself with her hands and got a better score putting Alicia out of the running for a medal.

Alicia didn't stick either of her landings. But when Cheng Fei(sp?) went, she fell on her knees, and yet scored higher than Alicia and is in the running for the bronze medal.

She got 4th place in vault finals. after the Chinese Cheng Fei fell on her second vault and came in 3rd. Cheng's start values were both 6.5, vs Alicia's 6.3 and 5.8, so Cheng scored higher than Alicia.

Alicia was ripped off and should have had the bronze.  The chinese girl fell on her knees and still got a 1, putting Alicia in 4th.  Another bullshit call in favor of China.

I agree...people need to stop complaining.

If the landing was the most important part of the vault, then all gymnasts should just do a flip and land. Let's all do that and get gold medals, then the US would stop bashing others.

Besides, Alicia can't even DO the vaults Cheng Fei does. If Alicia did them, she would fall 2 times. Cheng Fei falls once. Landing wise- Cheng Fei wins.
