Question:

Olympic Scrapbook ideas?!?!?

My friend is leaving in September to train with Olympic horse-back riders for 4 years or so. Her birthday is tomorrow and I had the idea of making her a scrapbook. I thought I'd make it the kind where I design the whole thing from page to page and she just has to insert the pictures. So, I'd write something like "You at the ariport" and she'd put a picture in that spot. Understand?

Anyways, I bought a scrapbook and put all the colored paper in and stuff, but I need ideas for the types of pictures I should make her put in. I was thinking of stuff like, "where you're training," and "you and your trainers," etc. Anyone have any great ideas? I have to fill about 38 pages!!

  1. First, great idea. Congratulations for making such a thoughtful gift. Remember to leave spaces on each page for journaling. Your friend will want to write her thoughts and feelings about the pictures and themes.

There are plenty of ideas, but since you really don't know what might occur during four years, I'd suggest making some pages very "generic."

You might label them something like:

    Fun Times

Heads Up! (That's a term that horseback riders use)

    Go Team Go

    Success

    Joy

    Time to Relax

    My Day Off

Visiting Wherever... (you don't mention where she is going. She will probably want some pictures of the city or country where she is. I'd leave several pages for this)

    My Favorite Horses

Good Friends (she'll make friends with her team mates)

    Christmas in .....

My Birthdays  (she'll have three or four birthdays away)

Time to Say Goodbye  (for when she returns home)

I'd also suggest making a page just for journaling and other keepsakes that she might have. Not every scrapbook page has to have pictures. Follow the link below for an article discussing scrapbooking without pictures.
