Olympic Success in China! And the grim UK!?

So basically those hardworking peeps on Team GB have inspired many of us with their gold wins..but does this help with our sense of pride as a nation..? when our nation is being sold down the river and falling to bits at the seams?

Gordon brown actually smiled on the TV the other day when talking about olympic sucess? thats something?

Actually, London game organisers at the opening ceremony of Beijing already admitted they can't pull off something like that, so, whats the suprise?

I think we can look on it as something to be proud of but NEVER ever should politicians hijack the Olympics as a way to make themselves look good. Over the years funding hasn't been great for all our sports and i think it has only increased after a good look at the state of British sport. However, it is worth pointing out that some of our useless boxers had funding of £140,000 but as one who lost said "at least i get to see my family now", not forgetting Frankie Gavin who has the same £140,000 funding and trained for years only to barred from taking part because he was a couple of pounds over weight. Pathetic. But very well done to those who have exceeded our expectations.

The British will be fine in hosting the next Olympics. I hope all these arrogance about how great Beijing Olympics is will stop. Olympics is not about that.

Right now i feel pround to be british!! Team GB are doin awesome!! Nd tbh honest at least we have a proper government ...Gordon may be c**p ...but at least were not suffering under a communist government like china are!! The rules are so strict over there..i heard their government sed tht the audience were only allowed to wear 3 colors or less of clothing...and no more...its just stupid little rules all the time tht ruin china as a nation. nd im sure we'll do a good olympics in 2012.. :S

You want political Gordon Brown has controlled inflation give OAP's reasonable pension rises give Oap's free bus passes and controlled inflation Maggie Thatcher inflation mortgages up to 26/17% loss of the nations manufacturing so do not give me any rubbish about the Labour party and who charged the miners with the police on horseback we have come along way with Labour ohh and the Tories telling us to have proper morals behave l whilst Major was having an affair and you know where the oil money went no well it went to finance the trip to the Falklands I better stop there but if you want me to go on no problems

I hope that the Brits don't fall into the trap of trying to outdo the previous country even though I am sure they could afford it.

The billions that were spent by china would have gone a long way towards improving the lives of it's people.

I would like to see the games held in some of the smaller countries, without bankrupting them in the process.
