I'm 19 at the moment, have been doing ITF TKD for almost 7 years/WTF TKD for 1 year. How many more chances do you think i have? I think only the 2012 and 2016 Olympics(23/27 years old). Is the 2020 Olympics possible or not? I'll be exactly 31 and most athlete don't compete majorly past 30 so yeah IDK. I need realistic answers please. How many more chances/games do i have? 3 or only 2? I couldn't qualify for nationals because i'm not a citizen yet, i still have to wait almost 3 years.

  1. Steven Lopez is 29.  Two years are not going to make that big of a difference.

The thing is, you need to be competing at national and international tournaments even to get on the radar in your weight class.

Let's hope your not in the same weight class as Mark Lopez, because you know for sure that he is going back in 2012 (68kg).

    James

  2. Sorry, I don't have the answer for your specific question because I'm not an Olympic TKD expert-my only advice is DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP TRYING-don't worry too much about how many more chances you will have.  Think of it as the next opportunity being "IT"

  3. Like h**l you dont have a shot! you better get training hard core if you really want to do it! Wake up, do some push ups (general weights) then do taekwondo in the after noon. not to mention youll have to start going to the major tournaments, no the local ones, pan american games, and hope that the USA pics your wheight class for the olympics. and also, you might qualify for nationals if your super good, theyll give you papers XD

  4. As James mentioned, Lopez has already said he'll try for London - at 33.  There is no reason you can't try to make it to the Olympics as long as they are offered (which I hope) beyond 2012.
