The Olympic champion said, “Times are one of the things that we use as a guide when we are training, and there are a few other things we use as well. I've had to adjust some of the training things I do both up and down for different heart-rates, so I'm working the right kind of energy systems when I'm training.”
Thorpe has been preparing in Switzerland these days with legendary Russian coach, Gennadi Touretski. The coach will be the real mentor for him in regard to his overall training and preparations for the London 2012 Olympics.

He admitted that there lot of things he has got to do, to make a strong comeback. He is content with where he is at the moment and what he is going to do at this point in time.
Thorpe said, “I look a little bit more like a swimmer, now. I didn't realise I had dropped as much weight as I had, but it feels right and it's kind of a reminder, especially when I'm in the pool, how I used to do this.”
Furthermore, he added that he cannot underestimate the value of time by any means. He really thinks that he still has sufficient time, speed, stamina and versatility in his swimming to impress the audience at the Olympics in London.
