Olympic champion Rebecca Soni maintains her record in 200m breast-stroke – Maria Lenk Trophy
Rebecca Soni of the United States of America has won the Women’s 200m breast-stroke title with a sterling time of 2:26.83 at the Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro on May 4.
Due to this emphatic victory, Soni has successfully been able to maintain her New Year record with a distinctive time of 2:23.27 in the corresponding meet.
After the race, Soni felt immensely delighted and satisfied with her performance in the 200m breast-stroke.
Soni is the most popular swimmer in the breast-stroke style of the USA today, as she is the 2008 Olympic champion in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke. Besides, Soni won two silver medals in the 100m breast-stroke and 4x100m medley events in the Olympics.
She won the gold medal in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke in the 2009 World Championships in Rome. Moreover, she snared three gold titles in the 50m, 100m and 200m breast-stroke events in the 2010 World Championships in Dubai.
On the other hand, Soni snatched three gold medals in the Women’s 100m breast, 200m breast and 4x100m medley meets in the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine. In addition to this, Soni has won many other titles in the international swimming events up
to now.  
At the present time, Soni’s ultimate focus is on the FINA World Championships wherein she desperately wants to capture as many medals in the Women’s breast-stroke events.
Most importantly, Rebecca does have the bona fide goal of achieving more golden crowns in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Thamy Ventorin took the silver medal in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke with a competitive time of 2:35.58 and Michele Schmidt captured the bronze with a brilliant time of 2:37.31.
In the other meets, Pereira took home the golden crown in the 200m backstroke with the fastest time of 1:58.25, while Leonardo de Deus grabbed the silver with a decent time of 1:59.75 and Leonardo Fim wound up third in a time of 1:59.99.
Finally, Mireia Belmonte nabbed the 800m free crown with a sterling time of 8:40.77.
