Question:

Olympic diving, are you guys watching?

Has anybody else noticed that the female commentator is a total b*tch? She's like, "His takeoff has just deteriorated.." and "John, that was just a horrible dive." I don't think this is necessary. You can convey the same thing without being so harsh, such as "Not quite the takeoff that we saw him have in the past" or "John, he must be disappointed in that dive." Agree?

  1. Amen, Amen, Amen! If I didn't enjoy diving so much, I would have stopped watching quite some time ago! As I write this, she just made the comment that a male diver "had some ugly feet". WTF?

  2. I'm watching right now and she is getting on my nerves! And I also heard the comment she made about the diver with the "ugly feet". She is absolutely horrible. Yes, she is very knowledgeable about the sport, but she has a bad attitude.

  3. Yea I totally agree with you, the female commentator is being "snootie" and "b*tchy." I actually told my fiance that the lady was getting on my nerves by criticizing the divers. I would like for her to get up and dive like the guys and see how ACCURATE and STURDY she is!

  4. Yeah, but it's true, I expected the divers to be better, especially the women. The only divers I've been impressed by are the Chinese.

  5. Yes, I am watching right now and all I am looking at is Thomas Finchum, even though he is rumored to be g*y. The commentators call him 'the beautiful diver' and 'most aesthetically pleasing diver'.

  6. Well I don't think the competitors are listening in, so she doesn't have to worry about sparing their feelings.

Besides, there is a difference between "His takeoff has just deteriorated" and "Not quite what we have seen from him in the past." Maybe he's been great in the past, and this one is still good but not as good. No, that is not the case, his takeoff had deteriorated.

The judges won't be thinking in terms of sparing feelings, either, so he candid reactions give us a better and more realistic idea of how good the dive was and what is going throw the judges mind when they score.

  7. It's harsh but at least she is not biased and gives the same commentaries to all the divers. I actually think she is helpful in explaining certain things about the diving for people like me who don't really know what to look for.
