The hype created by the media for the London Olympic games is frightening.Tax payers are to pay out at least 9.3 billion pounds plus the ongoing upkeep of the facilities. this at a time when houses are being repossessed ,people can,t afford dental treatment, eye tests, glasses, prescription charges gas electric and in some cases food. This amount of money could take the working class off the bread line.Is a few medals worth the suffering.

  1. nope , but we pay for politicians to have fancy things , is that any more fair

  2. Nope. The nice people at NICE are having a job explaining why dying people can't have the drugs they need to treat them. A few months extra life for a few individuals and their families is not worth as much as a few moments of national pride according to our national method of reckoning. And when you can't find a NHS dentist to relieve your splitting toothache, just lie down in a dark room and think of queen and country. Oh, btw, Brown has just given £64m to the Afghans on his way to Beijing. Fair? Ha, ha, ha, ha...

  3. The olympic games in London 2012 are much more than just being about winning medals. So much money is being spent in London to ensure that it is not for just a  few weeks. There will be housing coming from the olympics long after they have finished. The olympics are about revitalising and regenerating an area of London as well as sport.

  4. No. The fact that the IOCC were conned into giving London the games we should have left it to the French. The 9.3 billion could be better spent than on this four yearly jamboree. Don't forget that the 9.3 billion is only for the games venues security, to keep the yanks and Israelis safe will cost almost as much.

  5. So what else is new?

  6. There is more to the olympics than medals.

  7. yes.

  8. Nope.

  9. Its the same old story I'm afraid, London gets this and London gets that.

Where I live in the East Midlands most people don't give a monkeys about the 2012 Olympics, what most people are concerned about are Jobs, Schools, Crime and the NHS where people who are dying from cancer are not prescribed the drugs that may save or greatly improve their lives.

But what truly saddens me though is the more I see and hear on the news about the London 2012 Olympics, the less I feel that our government in London is truly represents the whole of Britain.Because out of these Billions that is going to be spent (wasted in my view) on hosting these games, how much is going to be spent around the rest of the country, yet through tax the rest of the country will probably be forced to help pay for them.

Not only that how many of the contracts will be given to the OLD BOY NETWORK and the OLD SCHOOL TIE.
