Olympic gold metals?

does any body know why they dont make the olymic metals out of solid real gold or silver, bronze ? its not cause they dont have the money , they have and do spend millions on the thing !!!!!!

  1. Silver is near pure. Bronze is a mix of metals, mainly copper,anyway.

    Gold is made out of silver with a coating of gold. The reason for that is 24 carat gold is too soft and not strong enough too be used as a medal.

  3. are u serious try making a medal out of real gold will cost thousands of dollars and gold is not paper if they made it out of pure gold we would be out then there goes the worlds economy  

  4. Olympics Medals are make out of almost pure materials.

    1) That would be way to expensive.

    2) Gold is soft.

    3) It's the thought that counts.

  5. Do you have any idea how much in total that would cost. Also how soft gold is.
