  1. Tirunesh Dibaba of ETHIOPIA won the women's 10,000 metre final in a new Olympic record time of 29:54.66 on Friday, 15 August 2008 at National Stadium in Beijing, China PR. Elvan Abeylegesse of TURKEY won the silver medal & Shalane Flanagan of the UNITED STATES won the bronze medal.
