when a team of say 4, win a god medal, how does it effect the country's medal count? does it increase by 1 for winning the event or by 4 because each person gets a medal? In other words, does the medal count increase by winning an event or by the number of people that get the medal?

  1. Wow good question I hadn't thought about that...I think it would be fair to count each team member's medal.

  2. naw, it just counts as one.

  3. It counts as 1. The winning of the event, not the number of person taking the event. Imagine the whole hockey team winning gold and got counted each player as one gold each, the team alone will surpass the Chinese medal count....lol.

  4. 1 only per event.

But I bet someone will be inspired by your suggestion and do a different count later if China get the most gold and total at the end. I personally don’t think China will get the highest medals in total when it is over, but it will be intersting to see if it ever happened.

  5. No. When a group of people win a medal it only counts as one.

  6. My friend, I think it one medal on the medal count. However, all those who participated in the event get a medal.

    Good luck

  7. The Olympics medal tally is done per event, so when there is a team, it only counts as one medal.

E.g. Look at this official tally here of China.  Even though there were team events they only counted as one:
