Olympic opening ceremony's does anyone actually watch or like them ?

I find them way over the top. I don't want to sound miserable but i cant stand them, what are peoples views on the Opening ceremony ?

i like it when you see just one athlete from a country in the march past, like some runner from the republic of palau or something, that's what it's all about for me.

I love the Olympic games, but some of the opening ceremony have been really really long. I enjoy seeing the teams and who is carrying the flag!!!

Best one i saw was the olympics 2000 in sydney.

Nope, the effing Olympics are a waste of time, money, and energy.

In four years they will be in London, costing the British tax payer billions. The money could be better spent doing something that will benefit the British public.

Blow the effing lot up I say.

i think the whole showbizz opening ceremonys at all opening nights for olympics is a complete waste of money  the olympic spirit is no more its all nonsense these days

The main show is great as well as the lighting of the cauldron but the country by country walk around maybe a bit tedious.

This year Hero's director Zhimou is directing a 50 minute opening of China's 5000 years of history to the 21st century which is been dubbed the greatest opening ceremony in Olympic history and I like to see it live.

I want to see something different than dragons and lions and drums...something unique but doesn't give the Western viewers perplexed.

I watched them one time and never have watched them again. Each Olympic they are trying to top the previous Olympics ceremony. Spending Millions of dollars for show. Why use that much money for what 3 or 4 hours of show? Everybody likes the fireworks but isn't the air quality in Beijing bad enough.

I LOVE to watch them!  It is great to see each team walk out and be proud to represent their country.  I especially love it when the USA team comes out.  They usually make me proud also.  The world is a wonderful place and each nation and its people are beautiful and fascinating.  

I admit, however, I do enjoy the closing ceremonies even more!
