Why are gymnastics and snow boarding in the Olympics?

after noting that the Olympics is based upon competition, I noticed those 2 along with a few others dont compete against each other, they are based upon a judges decisions to see who wins, so why are they even in the Olympics since their not even a sport?

  1. trust me gymnastics is a sport.  even though its based on a judges decision, ur still goin up against people and workin hard to see who can do whatevr ur doin better. wit gymnastics they have to keep everythn persice and stuff. just as if swimmin, if u make on lil mistake, it can hurt u durin the race, same for gymnastics.

  2. for the first time someone else is thinking the same thing I am, I dont see it as a sport because it lacks goals, in tennis you compete against your opponint by hitting the ball within a boundary and them not being able to hit it back, same for volleyball, I totally agree that gymnastics, snow boarding and diving should be banned from the olypics.

Why they're even in the olympics im not too sure, probably pure pressure one would assume.

  3. Yes, they are sports, they are competing against each other for a high score, there are many other sports like that diving, etc.
