Olympic security check at Hampden Park – London Olympics 2012
It has been recently announced that the Scottish Communities League Cup’s semi final match will be taken up as a testing ground to carry out a test run of the security of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The semi final of the football tournament is scheduled to be held at the Hampden Park during this weekend. The London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games is specifically targeting security that will be present at the football events in the upcoming
Olympic Games.
The security test check is going to involve spectators being checked at the gates of the stadium. This will provide a good idea of where the Olympics security stands what further steps need to be taken in order to boost the security at the football matches
of the Games as Hampden Park is in line for playing host to a total of eight football matches for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The head of security integration and delivery for the LOCOG, Ian Thomas, expressed himself on the matter in the following manner, “Testing of security operations is vital ahead of the Games and delays to spectators during this test are unlikely. We are working
closely with our partners to ensure the smooth running of these tests and are grateful to spectators in co-operating in this invaluable rehearsal.”
The security rehearsal that will take place at the Hampden Park for the Olympic Games will not involve a security check of all the spectators coming to watch the semi final match as the security check will take place at specific locations only.
These are the gates ranging from numbers 19 to 40 at the stadium’s North Stand. The spectators who will be filing through these entry points to watch the semi final match have already been informed so that there is not chaos on the spot.
The Olympic Games is scheduled to commence from the July 27 and last until August 12. The coming of the Olympic Games to the capital of England marks the third time that the Games will be staged in the city of London making it the first in the world to hold
the event three times.
