  1. boats and oars have been made of different materials to make moving through the water easier. Riggers have become more efficient, coxswains now have microphones that attach to speakers throughout the boat. rowers have moving seats on slides so they now use virtually every muscle in the body. coxswains can now control a skeg under the boat while sitting in their seat to help steer the boat by creating some resistance on one specific side. oars now have oarlocks to keep them from falling out of the boat, and to help rowers with control. foot stretchers are now placed in the boat. shoes attached to a foot board that rowers put their feet in to make it easier for them to push hard off their foot boards and not move their body around too much, offsetting the boat. most shoes are tied together to make it so, in the event of an emergency, rowers can get out by pulling one string. Many other things have changed about crew as well, it truly is an amazing sport that's continuously improving

  2. well, now they have sliding seats, rowing used to be all arms, and now you use you back and mostly legs. Also, the oars have gotten longer and lighter in weight than they used to be. the boats are now slimmer and also weigh less than they used to.

  3. not really........still done the same as it has always been done..
