Olympic tickets not open for sale until April – London Olympics 2012
The remaining tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games have been put up on the official website of the Olympic Games recently.
However, the sale of these tickets will not be made possible until April 2012.
The official Olympic website for ticket sales was made open again some time ago in order to provide a platform to the ticket holders of the Games who wanted to sell off their purchases. However, the website could not withstand the heavy load of traffic and
had to close down before the deadline of the ticket resale. It was decided that the sellers will put up their tickets on the official Olympics website and the buyers will buy the tickets online at the spot.
Despite trying to deal with the problem in time, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games have not been successful in coping with the matter. As a result, in a change of plans, the LOCOG will not be selling the tickets on a first come first
serve basis.
According to what has now been decided, the LOCOG will be first buying back all the tickets that the ticket holders want to sell. Once this process is complete, the LOCOG will again be selling the tickets from April onwards. The time that the LOCOG has planned
for the buying of the unwanted tickets is a period of the next two weeks.
Chris Townsend, who is the commercial director of the LOCOG, expressed himself on the matter in the following manner, “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of our ticketing resale platform. We made a commitment to our customers to
give them a safe, secure and legal way of selling Olympic and Paralympic tickets which they are no longer able to use. We are delivering on that commitment, and will buy any tickets that customers are no longer able to use at face value until 3 February. Every
ticket we purchase from the public will be offered back to the public from April.”
The upcoming Olympic Games are scheduled to start from July 27.
